What is my property worth?
I just inherited my granddaddy’s 57 Chevy car, what do you think it is worth?
Since I don’t have any valuable information on this car yet or have physically seen this car – my answer would be somewhere between $2,500 and $125,000. Their response would be – why such a large gap in prices? My response to them would be – there are many factors to determine the value of Granddaddy’s 57 Chevy.
Is it a 2-door sedan, a 2 -door hardtop, a 4 door, a convertible or a Nomad Station Wagon?
Has it been in storage or is it back behind the barn with briars and trees growing up through it?
Does it have extensive rust, minor rust, no rust, original paint in excellent condition. Has it every been restored to original condition? If so, how long ago and was it restored by a professional?
Does it have the original motor? Does it have the 6 cylinder engine, a V-8 with a 2 barrel carburetor, a V-8 with a 4 barrel carburetor, a V-8 with 2 – 4 barrel carburetors or does it have the fuel injected V-8.
Is the transmission a 3-speed manual, a turboglide or powerglide automatic transmission?
What options did the car have on it. Does it have power brakes and windows or manual? Does it have A/C? Does the clock and radio work? Padded dash?
All the above listed would determine true market value of this car.
This is why you need to hire a qualified appraiser.
